Private jet Global 5500 is based on model Global 5000, but has a number of significant differences. Global 5500 project was announced in May 2018. By the end of 2019 type certificates in the USA and Europe were granted and started deliveries to its owners.

New Rolls-Royce engines model BR710 Pearl are installed on Bombardier Global 5500. New wing shape was introduced that together with engines made possible to archive high cruise speed, maximum flight range and fuel efficiency. Maximum flight range in comparison to previous model increased of 1,300 kilometers and totals at 10,927 kilometers.

Main innovation in cockpit is Bombardier Vision system. This is the first system installed on commercial aircraft that fully combines synthetic and enhanced vision and projects it at a special transparent display. This system helps much in low visibility conditions and improves situation awareness.

Passenger cabin was fully re-designed and looks modern and new. Passenger seats ergonomics and look was developed from clean sheet and is named Nuage. Executive passenger seats can be easily transformed to beds. Cabin consists of three zones. Two club 4-seats zones and a bedroom. In lavatory room you can now find stand up shower. Bombardier introduced new format of a seat on private jet – lounge chair. You would be able recline in it  and enjoy superb panoramic views or simply read a book. Hi-Fi entertainment system has wall mounted 4K displays and speakers all around cabin. In-flight Internet connectivity system uses broadband connection and makes possible even to participate in video conferences.
