VNUKOVO WITHOUT PRIVATE JETS

Vitaly Vantsev, co-owner and chairman of the board of directors of Vnukovo airport, spoke about the new airport development strategy. In 2013, it is planned to increase passenger traffic by 50%. 

In December, the reconstruction of the second runway should be completed and it will become possible to receive long-haul aircraft. Also scheduled for December is the opening of a new line of Terminal A.

Vnukovo's ground infrastructure is sufficient to serve 30,000,000 passengers a year, but the Vnukovo air zone introduces its own limitations. Now the waiting time for take-off is on average 30 - 40 minutes, both for passenger and private aircraft. 

Vnukovo wants to increase their throughput by reducing the traffic of business jets, which now accounts for about 25% of takeoffs and landings. Mr. Vantsev predicts the migration of some companies to the new Kubinka airport, which should be launched in 2013-2014.

It is planned to redirect the flow by maintaining high tariffs, which are now higher than Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo by an average of 10%. But this does not prevent Vnukovo from remaining the most popular airport due to its proximity to Moscow and ease of travel. A high-speed highway, the construction of which was also announced earlier, could become a factor in the movement of private jets to Kubinka.
