The first updated version of the Sikorsky S-76D helicopter has been delivered to its owners. The helicopter will serve offshore operations in the North Sea region.
The S-76 family of helicopters began its history in 1979, when the first S-76 was certified. The new S-76D model can carry up to 12 passengers. The main differences from the previous model were the main rotor made of composite materials, the new Pratt & Whitney engines and the Thales TopDeck avionics.
In 2011, Sikorsky announced plans to promote and sell equipment to Russia, but so far these plans have not been implemented.
