Russian Helicopters and AgustaWestland expect to deliver the first AW139 helicopter assembled in Russia to customers by the end of 2012. The joint venture has already started functioning and several helicopters are at the assembly stage.
The project for the assembly of AW139 helicopters is essentially international, since the components are produced in different countries around the world. For example, American-made engines, avionics are made in France, and so on.
The volume of investments in the joint production was estimated at 40 million euros. It is expected that 24 helicopters will be assembled annually, which will be supplied to Russian customers, as well as exported to the CIS countries. The joint venture was organized on a parity basis.
Helicopter AW139 is a multipurpose twin-engine helicopter, take-off weight 6,400 kg. The cabin is designed for 15 seats in the economy version. The helicopter is planned to be used as a corporate helicopter, for work on the shelves, for rescue operations and firefighting, as well as an administrative one in VIP configuration. The estimated price of the helicopter is 11 million Euro.
