Yesterday Bombardier unveiled an updated super-midsize Challenger. The updated version is named in the style of the Global models and is called the Challenger 3500. The designation is intended to emphasize that the Challenger family uses technological and design solutions from the top models. Engines, avionics and basic performance remain unchanged, but the Challenger 3500 will receive a new automatic thrust control system, which will simplify piloting and thereby reduce the workload of pilots.
Deliveries of the Challenger 3500 are expected starting in the second half of 2022. The cost of the new version will remain unchanged and start from 26.7M USD for the basic version.
In the cabin of the updated business jet, Nuage passenger seats are installed, which have proven themselves on the older Global series. Seats are adapted to the dimensions of the smaller cabin. Nuage seats use patented tilt adjustment technology and a floating chair base. The shape of the seats gives the cabin more space and visually widens the aisle.
In the updated model, the kitchen area was significantly redesigned: a transparent refrigerator for wine and storage space for crystal was added, it was possible to install a larger coffee machine, reorganize the work surface and make the closing of drawers smoother and more silent.
Voice control systems, which have become so familiar in cars, were installed in the cabin for control of lighting and air temperature to video playback on 24-inch high-definition monitors. The organization of the sound system has also been borrowed from the models of the Global family, to provide the best soundstage for each passenger.
We will wait for the first Challenger 3500 samples to see all these upgrades and improvements live.
